Spiking Test Costs

KSU Radon Chamber spikes all radon devices in a controlled temperature, humidity and radon environment.

  • Temperature is kept to room temperature (a nominal 72 degrees) and humidity is typically held constant but somewhere in the range of 20 % to 50% RH.
  • KSU Radon Chamber is at an elevation of 1020 feet, so devices which are sensitive to elevation may need to corrected for according to manufacturer’s instructions.

1. Passive devices requiring 48 hour exposure: $30.00/device
(i.e. open-faced charcoal devices, 48-hour E-Perms, other passive devices requiring 48 hour exposure)

a. Devices will be exposed for 48 hours at a constant radon in chamber.

b. Customer pays for shipping to/and from* chamber

c. Cost includes spiking report

2. Passive devices requiring 49 hours - 7 days exposure: $30.00/device
(i.e. diffusion-barrier charcoal devices, 7-day E-Perms, other passive devices requiring 49 hours up to and including 7 days exposure):

a. Device exposed no less than 49 hours and no more than 7 days in chamber at a constant radon concentration.

b. Customer pays for shipping to/and from* chamber

c. Cost includes spiking report

3. Long-term passive or active devices requiring more than 7 days exposure: $40.00/device
(i.e. Alpha-Track Detectors, Long-term E-Perms, other long-term passive or active devices requiring more than 7 days exposure)

a. Devices will be exposed for a minimum of 14 days (364 pCi/L days) at a constant radon concentration.

b. Customer pays for shipping to/and from* chamber
